Adana & Mersin.

Adana (& Mersin).

  • Stay.

Adana HiltonSA was our choice for staying. It’s close to Old Town and also has views of The Stone Bridge and Sabancı Merkez Mosque.

The breakfast is delicious and the staff are very accommodating.

In Mersin, we stayed at the fabulous BN Thermal Hotel & Spa. The service was top-notch and the food was brilliant. The spa facilities included water-slides, separate areas for men/women/families, a hairdresser, a salt-room, a sauna, and even an ice-room. Ahhhh!

  • Eat.

When in Adana, one must have Adana Kebap. The best we had was Yesil Kapi Kebap.

In Old Adana, near the famous Clock Tower, you’ll find Yeni Uğur’s factory which serves the BEST Turkish Delight. Stock up on everything!

Adana is not just famous for Kebab, it’s famous for Bici Bici - a sweet, icy dessert. Head down to Çavuşun Yeri to try some on a steaming day.

  • Play.

Adana is a great place to get around on the scooter and we took it everywhere. The first place we scooted was the Old Stone Bridge. Built by the Romans around 125AD, it’s one of the oldest bridges still in operation.

From there we went to visit the beautiful Sabancı Merkez Mosque. As with all mosques, be prepared to cover up. It’s worth it though - serenity.

Nearby is Seyhan Merkez Park which is a huge park full of playgrounds and a nice interlude to the history stuff.

About a 10-minute walk/scoot away, there are quaint little sidewalk cafes where you can get beautiful fresh lemonade and Turkish tea near the Grand Mosque. Sit, enjoy and people watch.
