Lamark University Campus (otherwise known as the JW Marriott) in Emerald Bay is the absolute best of resorts. Explore the campus via golf cart and enjoy the relics of old. Our room was situated in the Department of Agriculture, we ate in the Department of Architecture and we enjoyed cocktails in the Department of Chemistry.

There are all kinds of classes - morning yoga classes and even Vietnamese lamp-making.

And the Kids Club is great, too!

Luckily for us, we had a connection with the chef at the very pricey Regent Hotel. Bruno so kindly served us up some of the best food we’ve ever eaten! If you can’t afford to stay there, definitely pop in for the food (Kids also dine for free until 30th September)!

For delicious Italian food, pop down the beach from the JW Marriott to Jo’s Cucina. It’s delightful and delicious.

Although there are flights from most cities in Vietnam and rumours of a ferry service from Kep, we chose to transfer to the land border (via Vanra’s Tours) and then get the Super Dong across to Phu Quoc. We bought our tickets online but it’s a bit of a pain so just get them at the terminal.

You’ll need to apply for your e-visas about a month before your trip and expect to pay a little more at the border for an “express service”.

The JW Marriott can sort you out with a transfer from the ferry terminal to the resort for a reasonable fee.

Phu Quoc is a pretty random place. One of its quirks is its veeerrrryyy long cable car to Aquatopia Water Park. It’s an inexpensive and fun day out. The hosts at JW Marriott can arrange a transfer for you to the cable car and explain how to get tickets.
