Again, finding accommodation for 5 people is a big ask. We managed to find a great little guest house in Leith - 16 Pilrig Pl - a stone’s throw from public transport and great restaurants.

Nearby the guest house is a couple of brilliant restaurants. For breakfast, Nectar is well-priced and delicious. For dinner, Antonietta makes fantastic pizza and pasta.

If you’re looking further afield, McLaren’s on the Corner on Holy Corner is yummy and hearty.

Naturally, you’ll need to get yourself to Edinburgh Castle. A few days beforehand, we booked our tickets online for the 1 o’clock gun session (and, not to mention, we saw quite a few disappointed tourists unable to get tickets at the gate).

We also spent a significant amount of time at the National Museum of Scotland. Entry is free and there are many interactive activities for the kids.

Public Transport is super easy in Edinburgh and kids under 12 can be booked in a family ticket. We bought one for 4 days which worked out well.

Don’t forget to bring the scooter - we used ours every where.

Keep a rain jacket and umbrella handy - you’ll need it!
