Cappadocia.

  • Stay.

Want a glimpse into daily rural life in Central Anatolia? The drive to Capp Royal Cave Hotel gives you this and more!

Capp Royal Cave Hotel offers one of the few places in Ürgüp with a swimming pool which is the perfect place to unwind after hours of dusty exploration. Our room was spacious and the spa bath… the biggest we’ve ever seen!

The breakfast here is uniquely and delightfully turkish with warm breads, menemen, jams and cigari borei - you’ll not be hungry for the rest of the day!

  • Play.

Cappadocia is every budding explorer and/or amateur archeologist’s dream. Our six-year-old loved clambering through the open-air museum in Goreme, the Underground City at Derinkuyu, the Fairy Chimneys, and the Uchisar Castle. Travellers can spend a few hours a day at each of these.

If you have a chance to take a hot air balloon for sunrise - do it! I would recommend a small group ride so your child/ren won’t get squashed. The balloons have little windows in the basket they can look out of as well. We chose Discovery Balloons which I would recommend.

And, when you’re driving west, ensure you stop off at the stunning Ilhara Valley on the way!

  • Eat.

Whether it’s Adana Kebabs or the uniquely Cappadocian Pottery Kebab you want, there is brilliant food a-go-go in this region.

We ate lunch at Kebabs & Meze’s Restaurant in Goreme. I ordered the lamb kebab (goose-head size) which was HUGE, delicious and fun to eat. We had dinner in Urgup and I was able to ordered the famed Pottery Kebap at Beey Kebap Restaurant - super fun! We also ate dinner at our hotel which was delicious.
