Pammukale, Fethiye & Antalya

Why have abs when you can have kebabs?

  • Pammukale.

    Stay.

We stayed close to Pammuakle’s famous “cotton castles” at the Richmond Pammukale Thermal. This stay was a half-board experience (meaning that we pay for the usual hotel stuff as well as breakfast and dinner). This hotel has indoor and outdoor pools that use the beautiful water from the nearby hot springs - very healing.

The service at the hotel was pretty basic so, if you’re happy with basic, this will be perfect. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

    Eat.

Obviously, we ate at our hotel, given the package. The food certainly wasn’t as good as what we had experienced in Cappadocia but, it was useful as our hotel was quite a way from the central area.

A trip to Pammukale is wasted without a day at the ‘Cotton Castles’ which happens to be located within the ancient Roman Hieropolis. There is a lot to explore in the ruins but the best part was atop the castles in the travertines

  • Fethiye.

    Stay.

Continuing along the ‘all-inclusive’ theme, we stayed at Lykia Botanica Beach & Fun Club. This resort has great pools, a kids club, beach access, and water slides. It also boasts a Kids Disco every night (although, it was on a bit late for Archie).

    Eat.

Again, we were eating at the resort and the food was pretty good. We could also get food at the bungalow on the beach. We were pleasantly surprised that drinks were also included in our stay - woohoo!

It’s worth the 3 -hour detour from Pammukale to pop into the Ephesus Roman ruins. It’s been spectacularly preserved (although, it was very hot the day we went).

Whilst at the resort, we took a banana boat to a little island offshore. It was good value and the water was phenomenal. Highly recommend.

  • Antalya.

    Stay.

When we chose to stay at Club Hotel Sera, we had no idea of the sheer size of this all-inclusive resort - it was massive! Everything at Club Sera is MAX - an amazing kids’ club, yoga sessions, kids mini-disco, food, food, and food. And drinks.

    Eat.

One of the cool things about Club Hotel Sera is that it has small restaurants inside the resort that are also included in your price - just remember to book ahead with Reception. We often ate dinner at the large open-air restaurant - it had a huge selection and included table service for drinks.

    Play.

Erm… we just played at the hotel… Archie just wanted to be in the Kids Club the whole time. They even took him to a dolphin show down the road!

  • Kaş

    Stay.

We stayed just 4 mins walk from the centre of Kaş at Luna Resort. Breakfast is included and is a typical Turkish breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool which was so refreshing; the resort provides pool and beach towels. There’s also free yoga a few times a week. The team there will happily help you arrange transfers or tours as needed.

    Eat.

Just a short walk through the main streets and you’ll find restaurants-a-plenty. On the main street, we loved Ehlikeyf Meyhane Kaş. But, just a short walk away you’ll find food that’s more delicious for a better price (just no view). Our two favourites were Ora Kebap Secret Garden (have the bream!) and Şişçi Ahm-Et (it’s dry so be prepared).

    Play.

There is SO much to do in Kaş; take a boat trip to Kekova to see the sunken city (NOT a snorkelling trip so be prepared), go for THE BEST turkish hammam at Payam Spa, Spend the day at a beach club such as, Bilal’s Beach (a return boat will cost 500tl p.p.) Our favourite thing was a day trip on the ferry to the Greek Island of Meis (see the next section).
