Play.
We were visiting friends in Hobart so most of our activities were from recommendations by our host. On our first day, we felt a bit competitive so we headed off to Putters Adventure Golf. It is without a doubt the best mini-golf course that I’ve EVER played on (and I also won!).
We also took a day trip out to Richmond Historic Town and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Richmond is a quaint little town that’s delightful to walk around. We loved going down to the creek to watch the ducks. Bonorong is a great place to encounter Australian wildlife such as, wombats and tassie devils. The kids’ favourite part was feeding the kangaroos.

Eat.
The host of Richmond Chocolate Shop contains the ultimate ice cream culinary adventure is super generous and will let you try EVERY flavour from maple bacon flavour to Turkish delight. Of course a trip to Richmond is not complete without a pie from the Richmond Bakery. I indulged with a lamb and pea pie.
For the grown-ups, head down to Mary Mary at Salamanca Place for spectacular cocktails worth travelling across the Tasman Sea for.

Stay.
I haven’t stayed at a hotel in Hobart for a double-decade but, to be right in the action, staying down at Salamanca (especially on a Saturday for the market). Check out Salamanca Wharf Hotel which is priced pretty reasonably or MACq 01 Hotel for the funky name.
